Who we are

We are Finness Advisory. Our website address is: http://finnessadvisory.com.au.

Your personal information is important to us

Finness Advisory recognises that your privacy is very important to you and that you have a right to control your personal information. We know that providing personal information is an act of trust and we take that seriously. Unless you give us explicit consent to act otherwise, the following policy will govern how Finness Advisory handles your personal information and safeguards your privacy. Finness Advisory is committed to protecting your personal information and giving you choice in who can use your personal information and how it can be used. Our privacy policy takes your rights seriously – we are guided by privacy laws, and our policy represents best practice.  You are in good hands.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

There are a number of ways personal data can be collected from websites, databases and systems. They are as follows

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.

What Is Gravatar?

An “avatar” is an image that represents you online—a little picture that appears next to your name when you interact with websites.

A Gravatar is a Globally Recognized Avatar. You upload it and create your profile just once, and then when you participate in any Gravatar-enabled site, your Gravatar image will automatically follow you there.

Gravatar is a free service for site owners, developers, and users. It is automatically included in every WordPress.com account and is run and supported by Automattic.

The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms -Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

Finness Advisory will not use or disclose any information about you without your consent, or access your communications on our systems unless:

  • Required by law.
    • We believe it necessary to provide you with a service which you have requested.
    • To implement our terms of use.
    • To protect the rights or property of Finness Advisory
    • To lessen a serious threat to a person’s health or safety.

Finness Advisory recognise the trust you place in us when you give us personal information. In order to operate the website or deliver a service you have requested we may sometimes share your personal information with a third party provider.

We will not give any of your personal information to advertisers or any other organisation without your express consent.

Sometimes, we need to provide your personal information to – or get personal information about you from – persons or organisations located overseas, for the same purposes as in ‘What is Personal Data and why do we collect it?’

Nevertheless, we will always disclose and collect your personal information in accordance with privacy laws

Your personal information and our marketing practices

Every now and then, we might let you know – including via mail, SMS, email, telephone or online – about news, special offers, products and services that you might be interested in. We will engage in marketing unless you tell us otherwise. You can contact us to update your marketing preferences at any time.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. This service is Google reCAPTCHA.

Finness Advisory may also provide links to websites outside of the system, as well as to third party network sites. These linked sites are not under the control of Finness Advisory, and we cannot accept responsibility for the conduct of companies linked to our website. Before disclosing your personal information on any other website, we advise you to examine the terms and conditions of using their websites.

How we protect your data

Finness Advisory will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to keep secure any information which we hold about you, and to keep this information accurate and up to date. Your information is stored on secure servers that are protected in controlled facilities.

In addition, our employees and the contractors who provide services related to our information systems are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by Finness Advisory. However, Finness Advisory will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to your personal information.

You can also play an important role in keeping your personal information secure, by maintaining the confidentiality of any password and accounts used on the Finness Advisory website. Please notify us immediately if there is any unauthorised use of your account by any other Internet user or any other breach of security.

What to do if you have a problem or question

If Finness Advisory becomes aware of any ongoing concerns or problems with our systems, we will take these issues very seriously and work to address these concerns. If you have any further queries relating to our privacy policy, or you have a problem or complaint, please contact us via our privacy feedback form.

Future changes

Our commitment to making the Finness Advisory website efficient and relevant means that we are constantly adding new features. Because of this, from time to time, our policies will be reviewed and may be revised. Finness Advisory reserves the right to change its privacy policy at any time and notify you by posting an updated version of the policy on its website.
